HISTORY
ICECA is the
result of a vision of merging Thai lifestyle with innovative art and technology.
ICECA is based in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand and run by media artist
Francis Wittenberger. Since Dec. 2001, ICECA has maintained
a regular link between Chiang Mai and mainly European countries, communicating
with media artists who want to share their expertise with Thai artists
and the Thai general public. For That reason ICECA supports those
artists who want to come to Thailand and conduct lectures to expand artistic
horizons and promote artistic research.
ICECA is an official
collaboration with the CMU Faculty Fine Arts based on an approved application
by CMU faculty of fine arts committee. All ICECA activity is open to the
public. Its activities are artistic and educational and not conducted for
profit. ICECA is supported by KUNSTPUNKT BERLIN (link).,
a contemporary art gallery located in Berlin, Germany.
Visiting
Artists
Artists who
apply (via email) proposing a project will, if accepted, receive
an official letter of invitation on which they can base a request for travel
funding at their home country. Once a date is confirmed ICECA will organize
accommodations, rooms for lectures and workshops, technical infrastructure,
and will look for volunteers to translate etc. The visiting artists
will stay for about one to two weeks and will be provided with accommodations
at night and free internet access at CMU during office hours. ICECA rents
a house near the university for invited artist's accommodation .
