การประชุมนานาชาติเรื่อง “การสร้างสรรค์งานมัลติมีเดียกับการสื่อสาร”

นิทรรศการ THAILAND NEW MEDIA ART FESTIVAL 2004 จัดขึ้นเพื่อวัตถุประสงค์ในการแลกเปลี่ยนแนวความ คิดทางศิลปะกับเทคโนโลยี รวมทั้งเพื่อเป็นสะพานทอดเชื่อมช่องว่างระหว่างรูปแบบทางศิลปะที่ยึดติดขนบเดิมและ ศิลปะในแบบ New Media
“การใช้ประโยชน์จากเทคโนโลยีการสื่อสารที่เพิ่มขึ้น ผนวกเข้ากับชีวิตประจำวันและวัฒนธรรมไทยอย่างเป็นอันหนึ่ง อันเดียวกันนั้น ถือเป็นสภาวะแวดล้อมที่ดีเยี่ยมในการปลุกเร้าให้เกิดงาน Media Art และทำให้พื้นที่ในโลกแห่งศิลปะ อุดมมมากยิ่งขึ้น” ฟรานซิส วิทเทนเบอร์เกอร์ ผู้อำนวยการฝ่ายศิลปะของงานเทศกาลกล่าว
สถานที่สำหรับการจัดงานนี้ได้แก่ คณะศิลปกรรมศาสตร์ ม. ศรีนครินทรวิโรฒ, โอดิซี่ แกเลอรี่, เดอะ แบนรี่ คาเฟ่, มีเดีย เชคเกอร์ สยาม, สมาคมฝรั่งเศสกรุงเทพ, สถาบันเกอเธ่ และบริติช เคาน์ซิล โดยกลุ่มศิลปินในสาขา New Media ทั้งไทยและต่างประเทศจะรวมตัวกันเพื่อแสดงผลงาน ณ สถานที่จัดแสดงทั้ง ๗ แห่งดังกล่าว ในส่วน ของการสัมนา การอภิปราย การจัดฉายภาพยนตร์ ตลอดจนนิทรรศการต่างๆ นั้น ศิลปินที่เข้าร่วมและผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิใน สาขานี้จะช่วยกันพยายามทลายขอบเขตของขนบประเพณีที่ขวางกั้นระหว่างกฎเกณฑ์ทางศิลปะและเทคโนโลยี ยิ่งไป กว่านั้น พวกเขายังจะช่วยสร้างกำลังใจให้ศิลปินไทยในการพัฒนาผลงานของตนทางด้าน New Media อีกด้วย
ในระหว่างสัปดาห์นิทรรศการ ศิลปินเหล่านี้จะแสดงการสาธิตการใช้เทคโนโลยีต่างๆ ที่มีอยู่ในการผลิตงาน Net art, Software Art, ภาพยนตร์ดิจิตอล และ Interactive Art
Installations วัตถุประสงค์ของงานเทศกาลนี้คือเพื่อนำเสนอ แนวโน้มในงานศิลปะ New Media โดยจัดแสดงให้เห็นถึงความหลากหลายของผลงานในระดับนานาชาติซึ่งจะทำ ให้เข้าใจและตระหนักรู้ได้ว่า “ศิลปะอยู่เหนือกาลเวลาและภาษา” ยิ่งกว่านั้น การจัดแสดงครั้งนี้จะประกอบไปด้วย การอบรมและสัมนาเชิงปฏิบัติการโดยศิลปินที่เข้าร่วมและผู้เชี่ยวชาญทางด้านมีเดียทั้งไทยและต่างประเทศ
นิทรรศการในครั้งนี้มีจุดเด่นอยู่ที่ศิลปินที่จะมาเยือนทั้ง ๑๕ ท่าน และการรวบรวมเอางาน Video Art มาจัดแสดงตลอด
จนผลงานส่วนตัวของบรรดาศิลปินกว่า ๑๐๐ ชิ้นจากกว่า ๓๐ ประเทศทั่วโลก

Thailand (Initiative for Cultural Exchange and Computer Arts, Thailand) is
proud to hold the second New Media Art Festival in Thailand’s – the first in
Thailand’s capital - Bangkok.
This
year the Festival is hosted by the Srinakarinwirot University
Bangkok, in collaboration with the Imaging Department of the Faculty of Fine
Arts SWU, Alliance Française Bangkok, The Goethe Institut Bangkok, The British
Council Thailand, The Oddyssee Siam, Banrie Café, and Media Shaker Siam.
The
Festival 2004 hosts works from over 30 countries. The works presented deal with
topic associated with New Media in all forms. The Festival will takes place on
7 venues linked by the Bangkok Sky-train (BTS).
We
welcome all residents of Bangkok city, its tourists and visitors, Thai Artists
and especially Thai students and teenagers to enjoy with us a week of
contemporary media art events, exhibitions, workshops and intellectual
discussions.
Over
a dozen visiting artists, media professors, and performers will present
contemporary ideas in seminars, workshops, symposia and screenings – all events
are open for the entire week - admission free.
ICECA
believe that New Media Art should be free – for both artist submissions and
admission: the submissions presented should not be filtered (curated) by other
then the interested viewers themselves. Entrance is made admission-free for
all. This open policy is designed to encourage those people new to media art to
attend.
Thailand
New Media Art Festival aims to serve the art community being a platform and
motivator –- enabling both Thai and international artists to exchange ideas. We
wish to encourage Thai artists in their New Media work and provide them with
networking opportunities and new channels of communication with foreign
artists.
The
increasing usage of communication technology in Thailand combined with the
unique Thai lifestyle and culture is an excellent environment for new and
exciting Media Art to emerge and fertilize the global art scene.
ICECA
stands for values of free art, cross-cultural exchange, collaborative creation
and free education. And so, supported by our new and old partners we now
complete a second year of volunteer activity in Thailand.
